Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen to E Sports at Shaw University this week blog will introduce a topic, a topic that’s has been called deadly, fatal and a Global Pandemic. As you know recently a Virus by the name of Coronavirus or COVID-19, has spread through out the world, starting in CHINA. Coronavirus disease is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. As more cases began to show In the United States and recently The US just surpassed, China in total of deaths tolls due to the Virus, the US has the most leading cases of Virus as New York City leads the nation with the most Cases in the states. The US has taken many precautions in order to stop the virus from spreading such Stay at Home orders through the Nation, Closing of business leaving only Essential business to be open, closing of Schools and Universities, and All sports programs such as NBA and March Madness has been suspended due to players notable players such Kevin Durant, Rudy Gobert, and Donovan Mitchell have all tested positive for the corona virus.

With only 3 months into 2020 times times has changed drmastically and required citizen to act and adjust quickly in order to stop the Spread of the virus.

Now here comes the biggest question, how did this Pandemic affect us, as the HBCU students? According to How The Coronavirus Is Threatening The Future Of HBCUs an article written by Marybeth Gasman, Gregory N. Price and Ivory A. Toldson. Marybeth Gasman, professor of education at Rutgers University stated several issues of what can happen to students during this Pandemic such his no access to wifi and laptops, the cost of managing online classes, and few IT specialist.

I was about to get feedback from a fellow HBCU student, I was able to conduct a recording with Ashley Dukes of A&T State University to get her reaction and comments on how this Pandemic affected her as a student of a HBCU. She was able to explain the transitioning from in face class to online class, she talks how it affected her financially and her medical condition as well which makes her an easier target and higher risk of being infected by the virus.

We as the HBCU community needs stick together in efforts of stopping the virus, i know many others are effected by the virus some must put the biggest ceremony in a life time on hold due to this Pandemic, so readers if you are apart of the HBCU community and you want to heard follow me on twitter and share with me your thoughts and concerns we are here to support and let the world know that we have a voice.
